
Unleashing Potential - Junior Program Aide/Tutor
Description:
The Junior Program Aide supports programs and activities for school-age children. This role involves tutoring elementary students in mathematics and literacy as well as assisting in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Works at all times with a UP staff member.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide tutoring to students in mathematics and/or literacy as directed
- Assist in supervising children during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Support the planning and execution of age-appropriate educational and recreational activities
- Help promote positive behaviors and address minor conflicts using social-emotional approaches
- Set up materials for activities, clean up afterward, and help maintain an organized and welcoming environment
- Provide one-on-one support to children needing extra assistance, ensuring all participants feel included and valued
- Collaborate with other staff members and communicate effectively with children, parents, and caregivers
- Follow all safety protocols, organizational policies, and child care regulations to maintain a high standard of care
Qualifications:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- Minimum age of 16
- Ability to effectively tutor children in mathematics and/or literacy
- Ability to pass a Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) background check

Experience working with elementary aged children
