Montessori Lab School at Grand Center is a welcoming community serving children ages 15 months through Grade 6, located in the heart of the Grand Center Arts District. Centered around the holistic development of each child, the Montessori method instills personal responsibility, critical thinking, resilience, and respect for others. It provides children with a foundation for joyful and engaged learning that will stay throughout their lifetime. MLS is dedicated to finding a strong-fit Aftercare Worker! This position is for part-time employment with opportunities for AMI Montessori training, summer employment, and longer term employment if interested.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and supervision of all children on site.
- Coordinate activities and learning opportunities for children aged 1-12.
- Prioritize student engagement in outdoor play in all seasons and all types of weather, modeling a love of and curiosity for the natural world.
- Better understand the Montessori philosophy to ensure best practices in supporting young children on their pathway to increasing independence.
- Support MLS community needs both inside and outside of the classroom, including end-of-day cleaning and organization.
- Enthusiastically support in additional areas of the organization as needs arise.
Required Qualifications;
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Eager to support and engage with children aged 2 to 12
- Able to consistently work from 3:30 - 5:30, weekdays
- Curious, fun-loving, and balanced with a strong ability to implement age-appropriate boundaries for an individual or a group of children.
- Flexible, solutions-oriented, with the ability to attend to and prioritize competing needs.
- Reliable, consistent, and meticulously organized with a keen eye for detail.
- Socially-engaged, highly collaborative, and passionate about supporting our students and school community.
- A team player that can manage their own roles and jump in to support in any aspect of our program when needed--subbing in a classroom, plunging a toilet, supporting an event.
