Circus Flora Inc. - Marketing and Communications Assistant

ABOUT CIRCUS FLORA, INC:

The Marketing & Communications Assistant will, on a part time basis, support Circus Flora’s marketing efforts leading up to our annual Big Top production in June and our 40th Anniversary fundraising campaign. This position is ideal for a motivated, creative person looking to gain hands-on experience in arts marketing, social media, and communications. Working closely with the Marketing and Development teams, this person will help expand Circus Flora’s reach, engagement, and storytelling through digital content, design, and community-focused messaging.

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Marketing & Communications Assistant will:

  • Social Media & Content Creation 
    • Assist in developing and implementing a social media calendar
    • Create engaging posts for platforms including Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok
    • Capture behind-the-scenes moments and past performance highlights to share online
  • Graphic Design
    • Design digital and print materials such as social media graphics, flyers, and e-newsletters consistent with Circus Flora’s brand
  • Video Editing
    • Edit short promotional videos, highlight reels, and social clips for digital campaigns
  • Communications Support
    • Draft and proofread content for marketing emails, website updates, and press materials
    • Help manage media assets and maintain consistent brand messaging across platforms
  • Campaign & Event Support
    • Contribute creative ideas for marketing and fundraising initiatives tied to the 40th Anniversary Campaign
    • Support the marketing and communications needs surrounding the June Big Top production, including on-site promotional activities. 

These responsibilities directly support Circus Flora’s mission to bring wonder, joy, and connection to audiences by amplifying our voice and strengthening community engagement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok)
  • Basic graphic design ability (Canva, Adope Express, or similar tools)
  •  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a creative team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, etc.)
  • Photography and/or videography skills
  • Experience using email marketing or social media management tools (e.g., Mailchimp)
  • Familiarity with branding and storytelling for nonprofit and/or arts organizations
  • Passion for live performance, circus arts, or community-based cultural organizations
