YourWordsSTL - Workshop Facilitator
Description:
YourWords STL facilitators will help plan and execute workshops for our Crossing Delmar Program 2026,
which will bring together middle-school students from Ritenour Middle School and St. Louis Priory School
to discuss and complete group writing projects on identity and the history of St. Louis, MO.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitators will undergo training through online meetings and in person, during which they will learn about YourWords STL’s Crossing Delmar program curriculum and the process of planning and leading workshops during which approximately 80 middle school students will work together in small groups to complete a creative writing project that focuses on identity and the history of St. Louis. This role includes providing instruction and guiding hands-on activities for middle school students from various backgrounds.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- Openness to learning about people from a variety of geographic locations
- Interested in creative writing
- Ability to follow schedules
- Organization skills related to distributing, collecting, and keeping track of classroom supplies and digital files
- Uses email, google doc, Google Sheets or similar software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching, tutoring, or camp counseling for elementary or middle school students
- Experience with speaking to large groups of people
