Grand Center - Museum Intern - Contemporary Art Museum of St. Louis
Description:
CAM internships are cross-departmental. Each intern will spend a week with a department to gain experience in Curatorial, Marketing and Communications, Development, Learning and Engagement, Visitor Experience, Administration, and operations. The intern will have direct mentorship from experienced museum professionals and have exposure to the operations of a medium sized, noncollecting museum. Their opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration will include networking with artists, educators, and arts administrators. Interns will develop professional skills in communication, organization, research, and public engagement
Duties and Responsibilities:
Researching Artists, galleries, collectors, and institutions; supporting exhibition planning and publication development in the Curatorial Department. Assisting executive leadership; managing digital files and supplies; supporting office operations and board liaison tasks in Administration. Gain exposure to accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting practices in Finance. Supporting content creation for digital platforms; editing and producing media; managing digital archives in Marketing and Communications. Assisting with fundraising initiatives; donor communications, event planning, and grant research in Development. Supporting classroom instruction, public programs, school tours, and community engagement efforts in Learning and Engagement. Serve museum guests, providing exhibition information and supporting overall visitor experience with the Visitor Experience and Events Manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- 5 hours a week, at 2 hour minimum shifts, Weekdays only.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work with confidential data.
- Must represent CAM in a professional manner.
