Grand Center - Jazz STL - Development Assistant
Description:
The Development Assistant supports the fundraising and donor engagement efforts of the organization. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor stewardship, grant support, event coordination, and administrative development operations. The assistant will assist with donor data entry, campaign preparation, thank-you letter processing, and fundraising and grant research while learning best practices in development strategy and relationship management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with donor acknowledgements, thank-you letters, and stewardship communications
- Support donor engagement initiatives (welcome packets, impact updates, renewal outreach)
- Help prepare materials for donor meetings and cultivation activities
- Enter and update donor information in the organization’s CRM/database
- Assist with gift processing (as permitted), tracking, and filing
- Conduct data cleanup tasks and support list development/segmentation
- Generate mail merge lists and support printing/mailing preparation
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); a plus
- Ability to manage deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Prior nonprofit, fundraising, customer service, or administrative experience
- Familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., Tessitura, Salesforce, DonorPerfect, Bloomerang, etc.)
- Interest in arts/culture, education programs, or community engagement
- Basic understanding of fundraising concepts (donor stewardship, appeals, sponsorships)
