Grand Center - Pulitzer Arts Foundation - Administrative Assistant

The Pulitzer Arts Foundation is seeking a detail oriented student to provide administrative support the Curatorial department for 10 to 12 hours a week. The student will work closely with curatorial staff, receiving professional insight into the museum field while gaining an understanding of exhibition development. Project-specific opportunities will also be available, depending on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and interests. For instance, one potential project for a French-speaking student could involve organizing and translating documents written in French from an artist’s archive.

 

Working hours are between 9 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday but the days and times for the work-study position are flexible. The student will be mostly on-site at the Pulitzer but may be asked to go to local libraries at times (SLU, Wash U, and/or St. Louis Public Library) to assist with collecting research materials; this is negotiable if transportation is a concern.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Documents and organizes archival materials to assist in the preparation of future exhibitions
  • Gathers and produces materials in support of exhibition development, such as book scans, fact-sheets, timelines, power points, and/or checklists
  • Helps edit public-facing written materials
  • Other duties, as based on the candidate’s skills and interests

 

Required Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
  • Interest in the humanities, especially in art history, history, cultural studies, museum studies, and/or arts administration
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

 

Preferred Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Familiarity with library and image databases and interlibrary loan services
