Gateway to the Great Outdoors - University Mentor
Description:
GGO partners with Title I public schools in St. Louis for grades 4th-8th. The program blends hands-on learning with outdoor activities and college mentors offer consistent support that encourages focus, emotional well-being, and a strong sense of self. Our mentors work in classrooms to teach and lead engaging activities with our students that are created by GGO employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead weekly classroom STEAM lessons.
- Provide continuous mentorship to a small group of students.
- Assist in guiding outdoor adventure trips and end-of-year camping trips.
- Participate in team building activities with other GGO mentors throughout the year.
- Assist in the preparation of lessons and activities.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Must have accepted a Federal Work-Study award for the current academic year.
- Able to pass SLPS background check.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
- Experience working with children
- Experience or enjoyment of the outdoors, science education, or art education
