Good Life Growing - Urban Farm Site Intern (FWS Only)

Support and assist various farming activities that benefit community development programs through urban agriculture as well as increasing food access: help prepare and tend to the farm, including helping with preparations for Soulard & CORTEX farmer market days, local produce days at the farm each Sunday, and many other tasks related to urban farming in order to increase local food access. This is a hands-on role that involves working with produce and produce preparation, hydroponic, aquaponic, aeropnic, and other organic growth methods; it may include additional duties, depending on student interests, such as giving site tours to farm guests, experimenting with urban farming/permaculture, as well as assisting with the coordination of farm volunteers from the community that we often host for service days. Persons applying for this position should be eager to learn more about urban agriculture systems, community development, economic development, engaging persons from diverse backgrounds, understanding facets to running an organization; volunteering includes opportunities to see what community engagement is like, how to advocate for local social change & grass-roots movements, among other topics. Work-Study students should be should be proactive, flexible, able to meet deadlines, and, most of all, willing to learn.
