St. Francis Xavier College Church – Advocacy and Justice Intern
Work with Social Ministry at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church to act as a student liaison for parish advocacy efforts, specifically in the realm of criminal justice reform, and to engage students in advocacy and justice work through the College Church.
Responsibilities:
● Serve as a member of the Social Ministry Commission leadership team at St. Francis Xavier (College) Church
○ Meetings on 4th Wednesdays from 5-7pm
● Participate in Metropolitan Congregations United (MCU) meetings, especially “Break the Pipeline” campaign meetings
○ Meeting times vary, usually about once/twice each month on an evening or weekend
● Attend College Church Race & Reconciliation committee meetings
○ Meetings on 3rd Tuesdays from 4:30-7:30pm
● Attend monthly County Continuum of Care (CoC) meetings and bi-monthly City CoC meetings
○ County CoC: 1st Wednesdays from 8:30-10:30am
○ City CoC: even months on 3rd Thursdays from 9:30-11am
● Help to plan and attend College Church advocacy & justice events (usually about once or twice a month, often on a Sunday)
● Help to market College Church advocacy & justice events to SLU students
● Volunteer with St. Francis Xavier Outreach Program
○ Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 9-11am once a week or once every other week
