Gateway to the Great Outdoors - Classroom Mentor

Are you interested in engaging with youth in local communities? Do you enjoy learning about environmental topics through interactive, hands-on lessons? Is educational equity important to you? Gateway to the Great Outdoors (GGO), a start-up nonprofit, is seeking Classroom Mentors to lead weekly classroom STEAM lessons, provide continuous mentorship to a small group of students, guide monthly outdoor adventure trips, and engage with students on semesterly overnight camping trips. In this role, volunteer mentors will travel to a local grade school in St. Louis once a week and facilitate hands-on STEAM curriculum while encouraging student learning and community building. Classroom Mentors can be scheduled Mon-Fri from 8am-4pm for a one-hour programming lesson–not including travel time. Student mentors should take an additional hour weekly to discuss and prepare for the lesson with the other mentors in their classroom session. There are opportunities to mentor for multiple programs if interested and available.
