Campus Kitchen Assistant Coordinator (FWS)

Work with the Campus Kitchen at SLU to recover food that would otherwise have gone to waste and prepare nutritious meals for the community! The employee will be assisting the Coordinator with weekly operations. Up to 15 hours per week (number of hours flexible) anytime Sunday 10-4, and Mon-Thur 9 am- late afternoon. We are willing to work around class schedules.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Volunteer Management: recruit, train and retain volunteers to support the Campus Kitchen's basic operations of food recovery, meal preparation and meal delivery
  • Operations Management: lead volunteers in the safe preparation of healthy meals and accompany groups on delivery of Campus Kitchen meals
  • Project Management: assist with special programming, volunteer training for youth groups, nutrition education for seniors and other projects
  • Program Communications: promote the Campus Kitchen via website updates, and communications with partner agencies

This is a great opportunity for a student with a background in social work, sociology, nutrition, non-profit management, education, or psychology, though we're quite flexible. The majority of the work is performed on the SLU campus, but candidates should also have access to their own transportation.

Transportation required on a limited basis.
